The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 6, Refuges Office in Lakewood, CO is recruiting for Student Trainees (Biological Science Support) (General), GS-0499-04 and GS-0499-05 to participate in the Department of Interior Internship Program at five locations: Rocky Mountain Arsenal NWR, Commerce City, CO; Audubon NWR, Coleharbor, ND; Rainwater Basin NWR, Funk, NE; Lostwood NWR, Kenmare, ND, and the Habitat and Population Evaluation Team (HAPET) Office, Bismarck, ND.
The Department of the Interior Internship Program (Pathways) is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed.
Students who successfully complete the program and meet all applicable internship program requirements may be eligible for conversion to a term or permanent job in the civil service. Internship requirements include completing 640 hours of intern work experience prior to meeting all academic requirements for graduation. Please note that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee the intern will be converted.
Internship Program Requirements:
To be eligible, an applicant must be a student currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment at least halftime in an accredited educational institution (i.e., high school/college/university/vocational school) and be in good academic standing.
These are full-time excepted service appointments Not to Exceed One Year. Students will work primarily during the summer months of May through August. Interns may be terminated or placed on an intermittent work schedule (no pre-scheduled tour of duty) at any time.
These positions may be filled at the GS-04 or GS-05 level
Valid state driver''s license required
Wearing of the official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Uniform is required
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be authorized for this position.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
