WHAT IS THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE (IRS)? The IRS is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and one of the world''s most efficient tax administrators. WHAT DOES AN INTERNAL REVENUE AGENT (IRA), FUEL COMPLIANCE AGENT (FCA) DO? Fuel Compliance Agents (FCA) is a hybrid position that combines technical accounting skills and knowledge with specialized skills and knowledge in the field fuel sampling, handling, and shipping. A major portion of the work is conducted in an industrial setting, and/or in an outside environment where extremes of cold and heat may be experienced. The position also requires the FCA to wear specialized uniforms, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves and coveralls, and to use a variety of specialized fuel sampling equipment. The FCA is required to drive a government supplied vehicle (normally a truck) to conduct inspections on highways, roadsides, industrial, and commercial settings. Substantial travel in a wide geographical area is a normal duty.
WHAT IS THE SMALL BUSINESS/SELF EMPLOYED (SB/SE) DIVISION? The Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) Division provides examinations and taxpayer education services for about 7 million small businesses and upwards of 33 million self-employed and supplemental income taxpayers. SB/SE taxpayers generally have higher incomes than most taxpayers, need to file twice as many tax forms, and generally need to rely more on paid tax preparers and the taxpayer education outreach activities of the IRS. Three total positions to be filled in the following locations, in Jacksonville, FL; Bismarck, ND; Fargo, ND and Albuquerque, NM. The anticipated start date is July 27, 2014.
