The candidate that is selected for this position may be granted moving allowance provisions in accordance with Human Resource Policy 14.4
Minimum Qualifications
Requires an associate degree in civil technology and five years of related highway/transportation construction and engineering experience or seven years of related work experience may substitute for the associate degree and five years of related experience.
Requires a class D drivers license (or higher) on the first day of employment and a class B license must be obtained within 30 days after employment.
Requires lifting up to 50 pounds; ability to lift and carry several items with a total weight of 50 pounds.
This employee normally works forty hours per week. This employee may be required to work long hours or weekends during emergency circumstances. This employee may be required to travel resulting in overnight stays away from home
_Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment. Employment is contingent upon passing a medical screening process._

Summary of Work
Supervise field crews in materials prospecting: Supervise Gravel Prospecting staff consisting of 2 Project Manager and 2 Transportation Technicians. Schedule adequate personnel and equipment for scheduled work functions. Keep current with changing work schedule in programming field activities. Train field chiefs in field operations and various office functions. Observe and aid in field operations including surveying and assisting with locating of required class of aggregate for scheduled construction projects. Perform evaluations of field crew members. Keep section staffed at 100 percent. Schedule and conduct training for staff. Coordinate assistance of staff for work in other sections and divisions. Approximately 35 percent of the time is spent on this duty.
Prepare materials pit lists; collect lease payments: Prepare materials pit lists which include quality and quantity of material, ownership, negotiated royalty and other special considerations prior to bid opening so they may be incorporated into bidders proposal. Collect annual grazing and cultivation lease payments from state-owned aggregate source properties. Approximately 30 percent of the time is spent on this duty.
Assist general public, contractors and department personnel to resolve problems and questions regarding aggregate sources: Assist contractor, state, county, department and private individuals with materials information requests. Meet with contractors, landowners and district personnel to answer questions, research claims and perform on-site investigations regarding quantity and quality of material. Analyze test results and submit recommendations regarding claims. Answer questions pertaining to aggregate sources. Work with department personnel in obtaining permits, clearances and certificates of approval. Work with department personnel on scheduling, pit plat and pit list submissions and provide addendums when needed. Approximately 10 percent of the time is spent on this duty.
Obtain materials options: Negotiate materials options agreements with property owners for materials use, price and special conditions. Prepare quit claim deeds and material option releases. Approximately 5 percent of the time is spent on this duty.
Update and maintain aggregate source data on GIS system: Update and retrieve information on all aggregate sources. Approximately 10 percent of the time is spent on this duty.
Prepare pit plats and boring logs and pit files: Prepare for construction plans, pit plats, and boring logs of prospected aggregate deposits showing plan view of tested area to include survey dimensions, quality of material and quantity of material. Prepare pit files which include correspondence, boring logs, agreement papers, lab analysis and information sheets. Approximately 10 percent of the time is spent on this duty.
