Minimum Qualifications
1. Associate degree with major coursework in office support or business or office education.
2. Two (2) years of work experience performing a variety of complex office support, clerical, or secretarial work which included opportunities for functioning as a project coordinator, team leader, or lead worker. (Note: The hiring authority will consider substituting additional work experience for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis if the experience provides the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of this position.)
3. Applicants must contact a Job Service office and complete the required Word, Excel, and typing tests.
4. Position requires ability to type/keyboard at a net of 55 wpm.
5. Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of a personal computer, with knowledge and use of a word processing package, and experience in Windows, spreadsheets, and databases.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully and with emphasis on customer service.
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
8. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
9. Excellent prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.

11. Successful completion of the interview process, along with reference checks, and extensive background and criminal record checks.
12. Prior experience and licensing in the operation of the Law Enforcement Telecommunications System is preferred.

Summary of Work
1. Data entry, analysis and verification of the documents received from the courts related to court findings and relief from disabilities program.
2. Liaison between BCI, NICS and ND courts.
3. Train personnel regarding the federal criteria for weapons/what documentation is required for entry into the NICS index and what documentation is required for BCI to make a determination on weapons possession/issuance of concealed weapons license as well as disabilities and relief from disabilities.
4. Work with Information Technology.
5. Receive and review concealed weapon permit applications for completeness.
6. Receive and review applications from individuals wishing to be certified as concealed weapon permit test administrators.
7. Notify applicants of any missing information or items.
8. Make criminal record inquiries regarding applicants using the state criminal history database, FBI fingerprint submissions, Central Warrant Information System (CWIS), and through the Law Enforcement Telecommunications System into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and the Interstate Identification Index (Triple I). Maintain all documentation required for background checks.
9. Conduct checks into the National Instant Check System (NICS) and serve as a contact for the NICS office.
10. Contact law enforcement, state's attorneys, and clerks of court to acquire missing criminal record information.
11. Forward the applications and results of criminal record inquiries to the director for review.
12. Receive reviewed applications from the director and process approvals and denials according to established procedures.
13. Maintain concealed weapon permit database. Participate in the development of a new concealed weapon permit system.
14. Establish and maintain files of correspondence relating to applications, renewals, denials, etc., including printing labels, filing, etc.
15. Maintain files according to the retention schedule.
16. Maintain financial records for application fees and reconcile deposits on a monthly basis.
17. Maintain concealed weapon permit statistics.
18. Generate and mail notices of expiration to concealed weapon permit holders.
19. Provide information and assistance to law enforcement agencies and applicants regarding concealed weapon permits.
20. Respond to routine verbal or written inquiries for information and/or documents relating to concealed weapon permits.
