Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Juris Doctorate degree and licensure to practice law in North Dakota.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to applicants with demonstrated abilities and experience in the following areas:
Written and verbal communications
Legal research, especially experience using Westlaw or Westlaw Next
State legislative process
State and local taxation
Statutory construction
Debtor/creditor law

Duties and Tasks
Interpret and apply state and federal laws, administrative rules, and case law in light of various factual situations
Draft and review legal documents and prepare exhibits
Attend and testify at legislative hearings and provide research, opinions and supplemental information to legislators and department staff
Draft legislation
Draft policy, procedures, and guidelines
Participate in Multistate Tax Commission teleconferences and working groups
Attend State Board of Equalization meetings
Respond to open records requests
Prepare appropriate findings of fact and conclusions of law
Receive, research, and respond to questions or requests from department staff, legislators, and taxpayers
Participate in the administrative rulemaking process
Summary of Work
The Legal Division of the Office of State Tax Commissioner provides legal research and advice on tax-related questions posed by the Tax Commissioner, Tax Department staff, legislators, and taxpayers. The Legal Division is also responsible for drafting policies and guidelines for the Department, drafting legislation, and preparing various legal documents. This position will be an important part of the legal division, reporting to the agency''s General Counsel and working in cooperation with the agency''s Legal Counsel and other staff. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support, legal research, and advice to the Legal Division''s General Counsel.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
