Job Description
The Security and Response Services (SRS) Equipment Technician is responsible for providing technical expertise and security services to protect Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and subsidiary assets and employees, assist with corporate investigations, and provide technical expertise regarding electronic security systems including design, installation, test and repair of card access/alarm systems and closed circuit video equipment (CCVE) systems for all BEPC facilities. This includes existing and future plants and subsidiaries, substations and administrative facilities, as well as assist member cooperatives with the same issues. The incumbent coordinates the technical aspects of Security and Response Services (SRS) which provides emergency communication and alarm monitoring services for BEPC, its subsidiaries and member cooperatives in a nine-state service region.
Required Skills
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional stooping/bending, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Occasionally uses electronic and hand tools to repair security equipment. Equipment operated includes investigative equipment, electronic security equipment, automobile, digital, two-way radio, video camera, computerized access/alarm system, emergency medical equipment, handgun, taser, and closed circuit video equipment (CCVE) systems. Finger dexterity, good color vision to distinguish colors on weather radar, and ability to perform close work are required. Must be able to speak clearly and have good hearing. Must be able to read, write, perform basic arithmetic skills, and measure distances on maps. Requires the ability to analyze data and reports, conduct research, implement recommendations, and direct others. Must also be able to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others, and work under pressure. Occasionally works in conditions of dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, noise, poor ventilation, and electrical risks. The position may be required to work at heights up to 25 feet. May be required to operate a vehicle daily in all weather conditions. Overnight travel is required at least 40 percent of the time.
Required Experience
Required: An Associate s Degree in Security or Law Enforcement Administration or related Criminal Justice field with three years related work experience OR five years of security/law enforcement experience; two of which must be working with electronic systems in the security area and call center environment. Knowledge of corporate security procedures, investigative techniques, and state and federal laws. Effective leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Windows. Ability to maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction. Valid driver s license.
Preferred: CPR and AED (Automatic External Defibrilation) Certification, Commissioned Security Officer and/or Certified Armed Security Officer, and National Registered Emergency Medical Technician (BEPC will provide these).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
