Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree with a major in wildlife management, biology, natural or earth science, or a related natural resource discipline, plus eight years of related experience, four of which must have been in a supervisory or management capacity. Or a master's degree in one of the fields indicated and six years of related experience, three of which must have been in a supervisory or management capacity.
The position requires experience in applying wildlife management concepts. Applicants must have experience providing supervision to professional and support staff. Applicants must have experience in planning, preparation, and administration of detailed budgets. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to balance different interests. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with the general public, private landowners, wildlife clubs, and other natural resource agency professionals. Applicants must be able to demonstrate skills in conflict resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given for applicants:
who have experience in computer knowledge/experience in Microsoft Word and Outlook;
who actively hunt and fish.

Summary of Work
Direct and coordinate the activities of the Wildlife Division of the ND Game and Fish Department. Develop the Department's position on matters affecting wildlife resources. Provides supervision in the planning and implementation of wildlife management programs.
Duties performed include:
Provide oversight, supervision, and guidance for the Wildlife Division which is comprised of a staff of over 48 employees.
Direct and coordinate the interactions of the three sections of the division to fulfill their objectives and responsibilities.
Provide oversight of the Wildlife Division's budget.
Provide oversight of the Division's Game Management Section (species mgt.), Wildlife Resource Section (WMA system), and Private Lands Section (PLOTS Program).
Administer the Department's wildlife depredation alleviation program in order to maximize the benefit to affected wildlife and minimize landowner impact.
Assist with formulation of policy on the Federal Farm Bill, coordinate Department input on issues related to the Farm Bill and related legislation and ongoing agricultural policy issues that impact wildlife habitat.
Communicate Department programs at professional resource management meetings, advisory board meetings, sportsman and civic club meetings, and other public gatherings.
