Position Hiring Range - $2,288 - $2,350
Minimum Qualifications
Requires an associate's degree with major coursework in office support, business, or office education and one year of work experience performing a variety of office support, clerical, or secretarial work. Additional work experience (calculated on a full-time equivalent level) performing office support, clerical, or secretarial duties may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
A reference check, background check, and verification of previous employment may be conducted on applicants selected for interviews.

Summary of Work
The ND Department of Labor and Human Rights is responsible for statewide enforcement and education related to labor standards and human rights laws. The Administrative Assistant position is an important part of the department's administrative team. Work duties include, but are not limited to, responsibility for:
Analyzing and responding to inquiries from the public regarding labor standards and human rights laws via telephone, e-mail, and in person on matters ranging from basic to complex.
Reviewing compliance of Employment and Age Certificates received under state youth employment laws and taking necessary steps to communicate with employers, parents, and teen workers to resolve concerns identified.
Determining applicable claims assignments, conducting business registration searches, entering claim information into appropriate database applications, and preparing case files.
Assessing the department's office supply and printed materials inventory needs and ensuring that necessary items are maintained.
Receiving and processing department mail.
Maintaining the department's file room and performing related functions such as copying, filing, and purging of office records.
Processing sub-minimum wage license applications to ensure compliance with state laws and rules.
Preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes.
Serving as back-up for the department's other administrative support position.
Providing administrative assistance to the Commissioner, Human Rights Director, Business Manager, and Compliance Investigators.
Participating in special projects and performing other duties as assigned.
