Minimum Qualifications
Requires Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
License to practice Law in ND
Two years of work experience as an attorney
Preferred Qualifications
Work experience with juvenile law, government prosecution and court experience
Requires a valid driver's license
Must communicate (oral and written) clearly and concisely
Computer Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

Summary of Work
Provide legal counsel on child welfare cases
Provide legal representation during litigation of child welfare cases
Engage in appellate practice concerning child welfare cases
Represent agency in legal actions defined by state and county policies regarding vulnerable adults
Serve as legal advisor to the agency including policy and development activities at the local and state level
Lead and manage the legal staff for social services
Represent the agency with regard to interests that arise from Economic Assistance cases and provide consultation on specific situations and policy issues
Provide training and education
Determine jurisdiction, venue, and service of process issues
Perform legal research
Prepare appropriate findings of fact, conclusions of law, orders for judgment and judgments after court proceedings
Interpret and apply state and federal laws and administrative rules
Receive, research and respond to questions or complaints; provide information, explain policy and procedure and/or facilitate a resolution
Provide consultation, make recommendations, give appropriate advice, and/or facilitate decisions
Develop and propose policy, procedures, and rules
Establish and maintain working relationships with judiciary, other attorneys, and law enforcement
