Summary:


The Machinist position operates a variety of machine tools and equipment to accurately machine final product as well as assist in the development of new products and processes. The position requires set up and operation of equipment to perform machining tasks, such as sawing, turning, boring, facing, and threading parts according to specifications on process sheets, blueprints and sketches of parts to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up and operating requirements.
Working from general procedures and instructions, the Machinist will execute tasks in an accurate and timely manner. The machine operator is also responsible for performing department processes and safely operating equipment to complete duties.

Essential Functions:
Use precision measuring devices to effectively machine parts
Use blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices and/or other equipment to ensure conformance to quality specifications
Ability to set-up, adjust and perform operations with close tolerance and finish requirements on standardized parts
Conduct pre and post inspection on all machined parts
Plan and make difficult or new setups with necessary equipment
Assist in the development of work instructions
Perform preventive maintenance as required
Assist in identifying issues and initiating corrective action processes as necessary
Perform 5S Audits
Must fill out daily production boards as well as the 5S metric boards for their specific cell.
Perform Safety Stop Audits observations as required
Any duties or tasks that may be assigned to promote cross training or support for various areas of the shop
Follow the Menlo Standard Work Instructions
Operate up to (4) machining centers at one time
Scope and Accountability:


Completes routine, repetitive, and/or standardized tasks; emphasis is typically on manual skills. Applies basic skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the positions. Resolves task-related problems in straightforward situations.
Qualification Requirements:
Knowledge : HS Diploma, or equivalent; A.A.S. in Precision Machining Technology preferred.
Skills :

Experience : 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand or walk for extended periods of time, use hand and fingers to handle or feel tools or equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and see color. Must be capable to understand and follow procedures for loading of trucks. May require extended hours in order to meet customer's needs.
Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment and an industrial environment, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office equipment and industrial equipment.
