Duration: Open immediately through the end of the 2015 regular session of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly; an additional short-term work period of approximately one month following the session may be available depending upon project needs
Summary of Work
Under the direction of the manager, library and records, provides support services for the Legislative Council library and performs other duties as directed. Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed during the legislative session. Will work some overtime.
Essential Functions
Works with standing committee clerks to process committee minutes and testimony;
Prepares legislative histories at the request of legislators, Legislative Council staff, and other library users;
Assists in providing legislative reference services;
Assists in archiving legislative records and associated materials; and
Distributes periodicals and subscriptions to the Legislative Council staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires an associate's degree or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Ability to respond clearly, accurately, and promptly to the informational needs of legislators and Legislative Council staff;
Ability to maintain confidentiality, to remain objective and nonpartisan, and to demonstrate integrity in all work-related matters;
Ability to work under pressure, to meet assigned deadlines, and to consistently employ effective time-management skills;
Ability to operate standard technological systems; and
Ability to work any necessary overtime as required.
Desirable Knowledge
Knowledge of archives and records management practices;
Knowledge of basic information search and retrieval methods;
Knowledge of state government and governmental reference resources; and
Knowledge of the legislative process and its published components.
