Job Description
This position implements information system protection needs, system access, the security setup and configuration of Enterprise level servers, operating systems, and applications for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. The incumbent works with more experienced members of the Cyber Systems Security team to provision new users, maintain server and data security and perform anti-virus software systems management and reporting. This position reviews various security related logs, resolves operating system and software related security problems. Maintains documentation as required and provides technical support for internal and external customers.
Hone knowledge of current security best practices and security threats through training and relevant news feeds and research. This position works with more experienced members of the team to perform security reviews and vulnerability assessments to assure current information security practices are effective and corporate security standards and procedures are being followed. Promote information security awareness throughout the cooperative regarding access to information assets/resources. Participate in incident response procedures as required under supervision of senior members of the incident response team. Insure the confidentiality and integrity and of the company's information resources by protecting them against unauthorized modification, disclosure and destruction.
Required Skills
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and climbing stairs. It requires frequent use of computer and keyboard. It requires occasional, kneeling, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds and lifting up to 50 pounds. It requires the use of software and hardware tools to service computer equipment. Finger dexterity, good color vision, and ability to perform close work, good hearing, and the ability to speak are required. Requires the ability to analyze data and reports; conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under pressure to complete projects. May be required to drive a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
Required Experience
Required:Four year degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Computer Engineering or a related field and three years of related computer or Cyber System Security or System Administration experience OR seven years of related Computer and Cyber System Security or System Administration experience. Understanding of security concepts and industry best practices; good customer service skills and a positive attitude toward customers, co-workers, supervisors and the requirements of the position; computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to effectively research and resolve problems; a willingness to take direction from both supervisors and colleagues. Occasional travel, typically less than 5%25%20by car, cooperative plane, or commercial aircraft.
Preferred:SANS GSEC certification, SANS GCWN Securing Windows certification, SANS GCUX Securing Unix certification; exposure to protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL, RDP and SMTP and applications such as web servers, mail servers, databases and remote access applications; exposure to Active Directory and Group Policy management.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
