Web/User Interface Designer (Programmer Analyst II)

Salary Range: $3,760 - $6,125 monthly
(Incumbent salary will be commensurate with experience; complete compensation package includes employer paid family health care, generous pension plan, paid vacation and sick leave)
Minimum Qualifications
Programmer Analyst II: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, Web or Graphic Design or related field and four years of current and progressive experience involving analysis, design, development, testing for websites/applications. Must also include experience in HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). An Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field, and six years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor's degree and four years of experience requirement.
Note: The Department will attempt to fill this position at the Programmer Analyst II level if unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications; the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position as Programmer Analyst I or Programmer. ITD will train the successful candidate in any areas of unfamiliarity.

Starting salary will be commensurate with the level at which the position is filled and candidates qualifications.
Required
Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS
Ability to design user friendly interfaces for websites and other web based applications.
Knowledge of user interface and user experience best practices.

Documenting user flows within an application

Duties and Tasks
Work with project stakeholders to define and gather requirements.
Collaborate with business analysts, web designers, and software developers to ensure User Interface prototypes can be efficiently implemented.
Ensure the consistency of the overall User Interface and creation of User Interface design components that can be extended and reused.
Design high-level user flow diagrams and prototypes.
Validate websites/applications for standards compliance.
Lead in design for websites and applications.
Define and develop current GUI style standards and design practices, as well as remain knowledgeable about emerging GUI standards and trends.
Mentor the developers with regard to UI standards and practices.
Determine how new technology can benefit ITD and/or its customers and provide a business case for implementing it.
Multi-task and work effectively across different projects and project teams simultaneously
Contribute to the testing of the User Interface
Plan and implement usability tests throughout development lifecycle and analyze results for resolving GUI-design issues.
Summary of Work
Work closely with the customer, business analysts, and developers to create user friendly, standards compatible, websites and web based applications that meet established project requirements.
Successful candidate will participate in all aspects of website/application design and development including project analysis, design, development, implementation and project management.
Successful candidate must use ITD resources to their optimum potential assuring that the customers' business requirements are met and must have strong oral and written communication skills.
