Job Description
This position plans, coordinates, and performs the design of assigned architectural work of limited to intermediate complexity. This position also performs technical studies, material evaluations, and project inspection involving retrofit or expansion of existing and new plant, transmission, and fuel supply facilities. The incumbent carries out assignments with guidance from senior architects or senior structural engineers.
Required Skills
Requires frequent sitting and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional standing, walking, stooping/bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, crawling, and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Requires good color vision and hearing, finger dexterity, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. Must be able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, implement recommendations, develop plans and accomplish goals, present information to others, and work under pressure. Occasionally exposed to dirt/dust, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, confined areas, and heights.
Required Experience
Required:Four year Architectural degree from an NAAB accredited Architectural program and three years of related architectural work experience. Must have the necessary work experience to take the Architect Registration Exam and pass within in year of hire; strong knowledge of local, state, and federal (IBC) building codes, and legislation (ADA); strong communication and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD as well as Microsoft Project and knowledge of 3D design/modeling software; thorough and attentive to details; requires travel by car, cooperative plane, or commercial aircraft 10%25%20of the time.
Preferred:Architectural Registration & Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation; knowledge of roofing, siding, and LEED; proficiency with Revit, Microstation, cost estimating, and BIM.
