SUMMARY Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement.
To effectively convert prospective clients into customers.
Prepare all estimates in such a manner as to enable the shop to achieve profit benchmarks.
To prepare all estimates in an accurate and thorough manner so as to provide the production department with a detailed blueprint of the repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Essential Duties include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Greets each customer in a cheerful, positive manner.
Make every effort to make the customer feel comfortable and welcome during the sales and estimate process or when visiting your shop.
Educates each customer about the process of getting a vehicle repaired, including insurance procedures, motorist's bill of rights, repair techniques, safety value, etc.
Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
Prepares all estimate in an accurate and efficient manner, keeping in mind that the estimate later becomes the blueprint for the repairs.
Accuracy and detail cannot be overstressed.
Include every task on the estimate whether it is a paid function or not.
Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
Orders parts needed for repair order.
Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop manager or foreman.
Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident.
Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
Estimates cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles.
Monitors and maintains body shop sales performance standards and sales goals, and post results each day to the Sales/Production chart.
Works toward improving sales skills, knowledge and strategies in order to increase traffic and closing ratio.
Negotiates an agreed price on every job that ensures the company's ability to earn a profit.
Make certain to negotiate the agreed price prior to initiating the repairs.
Verifies that all signatures, work authorizations, powers of attorney, and pre-inspection checklists have been obtained prior to initiating the repairs.
Documents all special information on the Job File Jacket or in the computer, or both, for the benefit of any other staff member who may handle the file during the repair process.
This is especially important for the production department in order to deliver a finished product exactly as described to the customer during the sale process.
Contacts customers upon receipt of parts and schedules work in a timely and efficient manner.
Gives accurate promised times and notifies customers immediately of any changes or delays.
Monitors progress and completion of vehicles in the shop and calls customers as necessary.
Develops a follow-up system for all estimates not captured and for all completed jobs.
Customer dissatisfaction issues should be dealt with swiftly and effectively.
Monitors paper flow to ensure that all documents are accounted for, filled out completely and legibly and filed or distributed to the appropriate parties.
Completes and closes all repair orders and files repair orders and related documents.
Verifies insurance payment, rental authorization and balance due prior to release of vehicles.
Reviews all billing documentation, including final bill, supplements, invoices and any special notes to ensure that everything is in order prior to delivery of vehicle.
Prepares final billing for completed repair orders.
Establishes and maintains good relationships with insurance adjusters.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
Keeps current on all training requirements; such as GM training, Compliance training and other training as assigned by manager.
Uses proper safety equipment as needed or required.
Maintains an appropriate dress code that characterizes professionalism and trust.
Attends daily meetings to report status of repair orders.
Keeps work area neat and clean.
Sets a good example by maintaining a healthy work demeanor and cooperating with other managers and fellow employees in a positive spirit of teamwork.
Represents Puklich Chevrolet positively when out in the community.
MARGINAL DUTIES Marginal Duties include the following.

In the event of a disagreement with manager or foreman on repair cost, arranges to have damage appraised by another appraiser to resolve the situation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides direction to body shop technicians and body shop refinishers regarding repair orders.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
