Minimum Qualifications
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology or wildlife management, or closely related natural resource science degree and four years of professional work experience with a wildlife or natural resource management agency is required. A Masters of Science degree may be substituted for two years of actual work experience.
The position requires a demonstrated knowledge and experience in wildlife management concepts, wildlife habitat management practices, habitat requirements for northern Great Plains wildlife species, federal and state agricultural conservation programs, production agriculture, and computer database programs. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the general public, private landowners, wildlife clubs, and other natural resource agency professionals. The successful applicant will be required to coordinate extensively with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to communicate budgets, work plans, and land management responsibilities. Applicants must be able to demonstrate skills in conflict resolution and employee supervision.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class D North Dakota drivers license. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, and be willing to travel extensively.
Must be willing to live on-site at the Lonetree Headquarters in Department provided housing.
Preference will be given for a working knowledge of GPS, GIS and ArcView or related GIS Software.

Summary of Work
Responsible for supervision, budget, management and development of all Wildlife Management Areas in District II (Sheridan, Wells, Eddy, and Foster Counties) consisting of Game and Fish property and leased property from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation; promoting and assisting landowners in the development of wildlife habitat on private land; local liaison with State, Federal, and private organizations and individuals; implement department's deer depredation program; assist with Department programs as assigned; and provide educational services and expertise on wildlife management based on sound biological principles and practices.
