Job Description
The Operator Technician operates and maintains the gas turbine generating units, all electrical and electronic equipment, and other plant facilities at the Pioneer Generation Station (PGS). Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) generates and transmits electricity to member-owners in a nine state area. BEPC operates and maintains the Pioneer Generation Station (PGS), a gas fired peaking station near Williston, ND. This position may also be assigned to work at and support the Culbertson Generation Station located near Culbertson, MT and the Lonesome Creek Station near Watford City, ND. These stations operate to meet electric power demands.
Required Skills
This position requires continuous sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and reaching; frequent bending, kneeling, and using keyboard/computer; and occasional crawling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision and good hearing. Working conditions may frequently include chemicals and noise; and occasionally extreme heat and cold, dirt and dust. This position must be respirator qualified. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Required Experience
Required: Associates Degree in Electrical, I&C, Mechanical or Plant Operations and three years of operating industrial, combustion turbine, or coal-based power plant experience; OR five years experience in electrical, controls, mechanical or operating industrial, combustion turbine or coal-based power plant. Knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, mechanical or plant operations. Computer skills and a valid driver s license.
