Find your dream Job here: Enterprise Database Administrator II - HDQ Tracking Code 216538-914 Job Description The Enterprise Database Administrator II position performs the installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise database management systems that support Basin Electric's core business and subsidiary operations. This position works with entry-level and enterprise-level database systems under the guidance of more experienced database administrators. This position may have access to sensitive or confidential data. The incumbent should demonstrate proficiency in provisioning database systems, maintaining existing database systems, performing database system upgrades and resolving database related problems. The incumbent is responsible for database backup and recovery related tasks. The incumbent provides technical support for internal customers and less experienced database administrators. The incumbent provides support and creates documentation for compliance-related activities. This position carries a cell phone and is on-call for after hours support on a rotational basis. The systems managed by the Enterprise Database Administration group affect all employees at all facilities and every aspect of business operations including payroll, energy forecasting, sales and purchasing, accounting, procurement, work management and many other areas. The services provided by this group are critical to Basin Electric's mission and business operations. Service downtime can result in lost productivity, lost revenue, non-compliance with regulations, reduced industry standings, poor financial ratings and have other negative impacts on the Cooperative as a whole. Required Skills This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and climbing stairs. It requires frequent use of computer and keyboard. It requires occasional, kneeling, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds and lifting up to 50 pounds. It requires the use of software and hardware tools to service computer equipment. Finger dexterity, good color vision, and ability to perform close work, good hearing, and the ability to speak are required. Requires the ability to analyze data and reports; conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under pressure to complete projects. Required Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field and three years of related database management experience or seven years of database management experience. Exposure to enterprise level database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle or DB2. Associate level database administration certification in SQL Server, Oracle or DB2. Attain expert level certification within 24 months. Good working knowledge of and demonstrated competency administering an enterprise database management system. Must have an understanding of intermediate database concepts and related applications. Good customer service skills and a positive attitude toward customers, co-workers, supervisors and the requirements of the position. Microsoft Office skills. Ability to effectively research and resolve problems; a willingness to take direction from both supervisors and colleagues; and some travel is required. Preferred: Expert level certification for currently supported version of SQL Server, Oracle or DB2.
