Minimum Qualifications
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology or wildlife management, or closely related natural resource science degree and four years of professional work experience with a wildlife or natural resource management agency.
The position requires experience working with federal and state private land conservation programs, private landowners and production agriculture. Experience with wildlife habitat development and database/GIS programs is also required.
The individual must possess well-developed communication skills, both oral and written, and must have the ability to work with other wildlife management professionals.
Requires satisfactory completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory experience
Experience managing budgets
Experience conducting wildlife surveys

Summary of Work
The individual selected for this position will work in the Private Land Section of the Department's Wildlife Division and be responsible for assisting the Private Land Section Leader in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Private Land Initiative (PLI) and Conservation PLOTS (Private Land Open To Sportsmen) program. The position has supervisory responsibilities for eight private land field biologists located in district offices. The individual will provide routine communication, coordination, and guidance to private land staff, including training and instruction, necessary to ensure effective implementation and delivery of the PLOTS program.
Primary responsibilities include oversight and direction of all Conservation PLOTS programs and activities. Provide administrative support, including budget information and policies and procedures to private lands biologists located in district offices. Other activities include maintenance of a GIS/database containing private land enrolled in PLOTS agreements, annual update of the Conservation PLOTS Guide, and coordination of annual PLOTS signing effort.
Work will require extensive discussions and negotiations with private landowners and coordination with other federal, state, and private agricultural and wildlife conservation agencies. Other wildlife survey, management and public information duties may also be assigned as necessary.
